I agree with your thoughts- especially about caring for these characters even if they weren’t likable.

I guess where I got tripped up (and having read it, I hope you know what I mean) is by the end I was uncertain about the outcome for at least two characters. Everything got so vague and the timeline so slippery. That bothered me.
