In reply to Annie. I probably never will like short stories as much as novels. That's the only reason I liked My Name is Lucy Barton more than this. The writing in both is wonderful.

The blurb really attracts me but I haven’t read her other book yet and it seems like it was better… so should I try that instead?

Her writing style really is so simple…and it works for me! I love the small-town life with darkness running underneath kind of stuff.

I really liked this one (though not as much as Lucy Barton) and think it’s a great starter short stories collection for readers new to the genre.
