In reply to Katie @ Doing Dewey. I totally agree that Meridian's choice to give up her career was depressing. I saw that choice more as her being victim of the time she lived in. (Go, female scientists! I'm a math teacher.)

I’m glad you enjoyed this so much! I thought it was incredibly well written and I loved the idea of the story, but unfortunately, I found the main character hard to connect to. I think partially I just read it a a bad time, when I needed encouragement as a female scientist and I found her choice to give up her career pretty depressing!

I picked this book up during the summer at the library, and had to return it before I got a chance to read it. So glad I read this review, and I will definitely be picking it up again. Sounds like a great story and an important period of time to reflect on. Loved reading your review!

In reply to Sarah's Book Shelves. Wives of Los Alamos was great, too! It was written in a really interesting way. The story was told in first person plural, so it was a collective voice/story.

I have a couple books about the building of the atomic bomb on my TBR and Wives of Los Alamos is one of them…and this sounds right up my alley too! I love books that address the tension between a woman wanting/pursuing a career and pulling back on that for her family.
