In reply to Barb (boxermommyreads). I just downloaded the sample of Gun Love. Thanks for the tip. They're always appreciated. If you like quirk, you definitely need to read Lily. It was sweet, but also pretty out there.

I did reread The Martian and loved it even more the second time around. I agree with you on Beartown though and even refuse to read the sequel. The book, to me, was about more than the hockey team with the assault being everything. Now that we know how that happened and was resolved, I am completely uninterested to continue. It will still remain one of my favorite books of 2017 though!

I used to reread much more than I do now. But there is too much I haven’t read out there that I’m chomping the bit to get to. And a couple here sound like they’ll go on the TBR list (which grows longer every day).

Seems like you don’t want to re-read these for such awesome reasons. I have a gorgeous copy of Lily and the Octopus and I can’t bear to read it even though I’ve heard such wonderful things. I like quirky books too so I’m glad to discover a few new ones here. You might want to check out Gun Love. I just read it and it was quirky but powerful and it seems like with the books you’ve listed here, you might love it.

I think I could’ve listed every single book I’ve read the past few years….seeing as I rarely re-read. Although, I have re-read some childhood favorites…but so much time has gone by that I’d forgotten so much of the plot…it was almost like reading it for the first time. I did this with a couple Pat Conroys.
