I DNF’d Fleishman, but after hearing so many people who loved it, I feel like someday I need to give him another try.

I’m putting together my debut list for this week. We don’t have much overlap! I don’t know that I have a top favorite but both Miracle Creek and Dearly Beloved were 5 stars for me.

I still need to get to The Secrets We Kept. I would have to say Fleishman Is in Trouble was my favorite debut novel of 2019. I also liked My Sister the Serial Killer (a debut in 2018 I read this year), Severance (a debut in 2018 I read this year), A Prayer for Travelers, and The Dearly Beloved.

I did read My Lovely Wife this year though – it was good, but I definitely didn’t love it as much as others. My favourite debut of the year has been When All is Said by Anne Griffin (it was actually also my first fiction read of the year too) – Maurice, the main character, has stayed with me all year.
