More than that, though, I simply did not believe in his justification for shooting Hannah. The rest of the novel was gripping and realistic and that was like, “What?!”

Ditto. I still loved the novel b/c it had the “unputdownable” factor, but I could rationally see the structural issues. The letters format bothered me.

I agree with you 100%! I had such a difficult time with Matthew; I kept thinking, “where has this story gone? I want to move on to something else!” I’m so glad that I was not alone in this; I really wanted to love the novel, but there were too many things that annoyed me. Having said that, I still felt it had some great qualities and I think your rating is perfect! Great review!
