I have partially read What's left of me is yours and found it enjoyable. I liked A Burning too. Though I did wish Majumdar had elaborated on why the name Jivan which is a common Hindu name was chosen for the Muslim girl. The fear of society, oppression etc could have provided a great back story.

I liked A Burning. B is like a four star book for me. It just didn't blow me away. I think it was a little grim for my head space right now.

We agreed on What's Left (and for the same reasons even!), but diverged with Second Home and A Burning. I DNFed Second Home- the plot was too far out there. A Burning was so hard, but I thought it was well-done. It was the novel, though that really sunk my reading mojo. I could not take another difficult book after that. Hopefully, a trio of light novels has brought my mojo back.

I picked up and put down A Burning three times before finally giving up at about 30%. I never felt any connection to the characters and some of the characters were expressed speaking broken English when they weren't speaking English. I found that to be jarring and a little false. I guess I didn't get far enough along to find the connection between the characters.

Yes, I'll likely pick up the Stephanie Scott book and A Burning as well - which has received a lot of attention of late. I heard Megha on the NYT book podcast and she sounded great. As for Scott's book: The business of breaking up relationships seems wild ... I hadn't heard of it before this book ... Does it have a compelling ending?
