I'm not crazy about historical fiction where there is tons of historical detail and scene-setting, so maybe I'd like City of Girls. I listened to The Signature of All Things on audio and really liked it. I'm so behind on new books that are out and coming out; most of the ones you mention sound like ones I would be interested in reading!

City of Girls has gotten better for me. I have about 5 hours left and am fully invested. For me though it's almost not true historical fiction. The historical aspects are so lightly touched on. I've been thinking a lot about what I consider true historical fiction to be. I may play with that in a post this summer sometime.

It seems like there are so many long books right now. I have another 400 page book left in June and one that's 540 pages. They'd better be good!

I'm glad City of Girls turned around a bit for you! And I can definitely see the vapidness.I think I loved the voice so much that it didn't bother me.

And, the Mechling sounds up my alley if it's done well! Keep me posted!

Interesting-- both City of Girls and Mrs Everything are on my list, but not sure what I'll pick up first! The length on Mrs Everything is so intimidating so I'm happy to hear you're liking it.
