I’ve kind of resisted this one and I think it’s primarily because I have such a conflicted relationship with my own mother; maybe I’ve been thinking it would be too difficult to read. Nevertheless, I’ve decided I MUST read it before the so-called sequel publishes later this year and everyone raves about it; such a great review, Susie!

Yay – so glad you loved it and I agree about the sparse, yet powerful prose. I’m finally getting to a place where I’ve pinpointed that that’s exactly the kind of writing I like. No flowery stuff for me!
