I’ve long wanted to read Lucky Boy from a few years back and will add it again to my towering TBR pile. From my reads this year: the weird mom award goes to the one in Mostly Dead Things by Kristen Arnett …. and for a dark bad mom … the one in The Last Night in Montreal by Emily St John Mandel. You should have this post every year ! & we will find new ones.

Great post. Worst mother? I’m still haunted by the mother in Pat Conroy’s Prince of Tides, Lila. She sells the land & island out from under them. Ugh. It’s been a long while since I read it but I recall her being woefully bad.

Lillian was awful and I loved the one from I will send rain. But for me, the worst is the one from A Mother’s Confession. She isn’t even as evil was Lillian but I hated her more. She was so well written!

I Will Send Rain is such an amazing story. Annie lived a life that I can't even imagine, and she did the very best she could for her kids. Good choice there! Here is my TTT.
