Interesting that there were so many technical errors in Moore’s book. You know he’s a screenwriter who got the idea because he served on a CA jury in a murder trial that found the man guilty.

You’re right that the year in books has been a little blah, but I think some of that is us and the whole new world we’re living in.

I’m enjoying The Holdout but it has very glaring errors in CA trial procedure. The procedure for selecting alternates is completely wrong and an unnecessary error to the story. The first 12 jurors are sworn. Then alternates, and it depends on the case and the judge how many will be chosen. No way are they selected at random! Ditto the foreperson. It is up to the jury to select a foreperson and it is the first thing they are instructed to do when they get the case for deliberation.

I’m not an attorney but I’ve been a juror in California enough that these errors bothered me.

Loved Cactus League. That will probably be my baseball for the season.

Sadly, this has been a pretty blah year for books. Shugie Bain is on my table. Might be a hard read but I think I’m ready.

I just started Jessica Simpson’s book today – I’m only 5% in, but I love it already! We’re almost the same age, so I feel like I’ve grown up with her.
