Stories with small children irritate me and Honey was no exception. The two second swing between giggling and screaming was constant, monotonous and irritating, but probably realistic The desert however, is a charm to me and Kiesling does a very good job describing the landscape, the dying little town and its odd and mostly unhappy/dissatisfied inhabitants.

I got kinda used to the comma thing. It was a stream of consciousness. Must do x then y then z. A sort of mantra that played out in Daphne’s mind. Understandable (I suppose) for a mom who is taking care of a toddler with no support and worries of a husband who may not get back into the country.

On a 0-5 scale it’s not getting higher than a 3.

I totally agree about commas. I’m constantly questioning myself on them, but I KNOW you’re supposed to use them in a series! I’m anxious to hear what you think of Golden State.
