We’re in the midst of the busiest most crazy time of year, but in a few weeks all that will go away and most of our lives will be slowing down a bit. Snow and rain will be falling, keeping us inside, cozy and warm. For book lovers this is a perfect scenario. Just picture it: a quiet wet day, a fire blazing, a warm cup of coffee or tea, a cozy blanket and a wonderful new book. Could anything be better? Winter marks a season of incredible new releases and I’m excited about spending many, many days with them.

Sarah's Book Shelves says
Great list! A lot of these are on mine too and I talked about some of them on my 2019 Winter Preview podcast with Catherine!
Susie says
Can’t wait to hear that episode and see your list!
renee says
We have no overlap in our upcoming winter reads so all of these are new to me titles. Her one Mistake and The Stranger Inside sound really interesting. Can’t wait for your thoughts on these Susie
Susie says
I’m shocked that we have no overlap. I need to get a look at your list. I’m sure I’ll be adding to mine from it.
RK says
Great list! I’m looking forward to The Dreamers, A Woman Is No Man, and Daisy Jones and the Six.
Susie says
Thanks, RK. Happy reading!
Rory says
I have high hopes for several of the books on your list, and Ginger Bread is new to me. I love books with a hint of fairy tale in them.
Catherine says
I love that we have some overlap, but you still have enough books new to me that I can let you vet them and then read them!
I’m really looking forward to Crystal King’s The Chef’s Secret because I am a sucker for books about food and I loved her debut. Also, Laila Lalami’s The Other Americans. Her debut, The Moor’s Account, was a favorite of mine the year it came out.
Susie says
I didn’t read The Moor’s Account, but have The Other Americans on my spring list. And, always happy to vet!
Monika @ Lovely Bookshelf says
This list is so helpful! You’re saving me Netgalley surfing time. 😊 I have the Tessa Hadley on my shelf right now. I’m so tempted to give Oyeyemi another try, because Gingerbread sounds interesting, but after the random transphobic ending Boy, Snow, Bird, I might wait until some reviews come in.
Susie says
I agree the ending of Boy, Snow, Bird got weird, but I liked it a lot until then. On that basis, I’m ready to give her another try. I’ll let you know what I think.
Allison @ My Novel Life says
Looks there’s a lot of good reading ahead in 2019!
Katie @Just Another Girl and Her Books says
Looks like a great selection of books. I hope you enjoy them and have a fabulous week.
Susie says
Thanks, Katie and thanks for stopping by.
Allison | Mind Joggle says
Ooh, fun preview! I’ve been eyeing a bunch of these and am reading The Dreamers now. Some of these titles are great!
Susie says
I’m about to start The Dreamers. I hope it comes close to The Age of Miracles.
Angela says
Wow, so many of these are new to me! Daisy Jones and the Six is on my TBR, I love Taylor Jenkins Reid!
Natashajk says
Thanks for alerting me to some new upcoming books. I’m looking forward to checking some of them out!
Susie says
Anytime! It’s always fun to share upcoming books.
Andi says
This is my kind of list! I think the ones that most tickle my fancy are A Woman is No Man and Gingerbread. I’ve had a mixed bag of luck with Oyeyemi, but I always try her stuff again.
Susie says
I agree on Oyeyemi, but she certainly keeps it interesting.
Heather says
The End of Loneliness drew my eye. I love books on dealing with death and grief whether fiction or non-fiction. Adding that one to my list!
Susie says
Hope it works for you, Heather. I’m excited to read that one, too.
Tamara @ Traveling With T says
Daisy Jones is totally on my list 🙂
Jan says
Interesting list Susie!
I’m 50% into The Dreamers and enjoying it a lot. I didn’t read Age Of Miracles but want to now. Joy Enough is also on my list. I was declined on EW so I hope my library will carry it.
I’ll look forward to your reviews on the others.
Susie says
I’ve been declined (or completely ignored) for so many books this winter. It’s frustrating. I think I requested 3 Jan. 8 releases and didn’t get any of them. It’s weird how it tends to go in spurts.
I’m now at about 20% in The Dreamers and am enjoying it very much. If you like it, you should definitely try The Age of Miracles it was great and such an interesting premise.
Jan says
I finished the book this morning and liked it very much as a character study although I feel some of the deeper meaning perhaps went over my head. The Age of Miracles is definitely going on my tbr list.
I must say I’m shocked that even with a blog you are declined. Being ignored is the worst!
susan says
Oh I love this upcoming lists! On this: I’m geared up for The Dreamers and the Daisy Jones novel. A rock n roll novel, wahoo!
Lydia says
The End of Loneliness sound really good.
This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
