Wow! We’re actually done with 2018 and as with every year, December went out with a flurry of activity, parties, family and friends. I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t left with a whole lot of extra time for reading, but did manage to squeeze in a few, including my first three January books. You can check out those and a whole lot of other winter books I’m going to be reading in my Winter Preview 2019 post. With the new year here, I’m hoping things will begin to settle down and my new normal will involve massive amounts of time for reading. (I know, but I can always dream!)

Wrapping It Up! November 2018 | More

When writing my October wrap up, I said the month was rather bleak because I’d only read seven books. Well, in November I also read just seven books, but somehow it felt like a much better month. I suppose that’s because I enjoyed the books I read much more this month than last. More than one might even end up on my Best Books fo 2018 list. Like so many others, I also had a lot of fun with Nonfiction November this month, making for a nice break from the usual fair. And now it’s onto that big end of the year push including a few different “best of” lists and a winter preview all set to publish in mid-December.

Wrapping It Up! October 2018 | More

October has been a bleak month for me when it comes to books. I only read seven, making October my lowest reading month of the year. With too much going on in my life right now, my reading has suffered. I think I’ve been less patient with books than I normally am. Instead, I’m craving instant gratification and when I don’t get it I’ve been quicker than usual to quit on books. Since all of my ARC’s for 2018 are behind me I’m hoping backlist books, as well as some great nonfiction recommendations, will make my reading for the remainder of the year stellar. (Fingers crossed!)

Wrapping It Up! September 2018 | More

September is over and I for one am very happy about that. I know many of you love September and the fall months it ushers in. Before getting fully on board with fall, I’ve had to get over two big hurdles. Summer is my season and I spent the first half of the month mourning its passing. (A rainy couple of weeks helped with that!) Next, I had to dig myself out from the mountain of work that always comes with the start of a new school year. I MIGHT have done that now, but only time will tell on that one. I definitely turned to books to comfort me through this rough month, somehow getting ELEVEN in! Anyway, fall is here and I’m ready. Bring on Halloween, Thanksgiving and the rest of the holidays.

Wrapping It Up! August 2018 | More

Ahhhh, summer! Where did you go? If you’re anything like me, you’re in a little bit of mourning over the end of summer. I know it’s technically got a few more weeks, but September never feels like summer to me. My August started out with a sprained wrist, a black eye and stitches in my forehead, so it could only go up form there! And it did, including getting through nine books, at least one of which will likely end up on my “best of 2018” list this year. With nine books a month for the last three months, I’m now about ten books ahead on my Goodreads goal for the year. (Good thing because fall is always busy!) I hope your August in books and life was wonderful.

Wrapping It Up! July 2018 | More

I hope July has been as good a month for you as it has for me. I was lucky enough to spend time with many of the people I love most in this world and get in quite a bit of reading time, too. July is such a sweet month for me. It’s completely free of work and the start of school is still far away. Once August arrives, I try my best to ignore it, but I can’t really forget that by the end of the month I’ll be back to work. Still, I intend to make the most of the first three weeks of August, getting loads of reading time in. In both June and July I read nine books. Maybe I can top that in August!

It’s hard to believe, but 2018 is already half over. Is it just me, or is time simply moving faster and faster? I think it’s an age thing. The older we get the faster time seems to move. Oh, well. It’s summer and that means family, vacations, fun and extra reading time. I can only hope that the rest of my summer reading is half as stellar as June books were. Three out of the nine books on My Favorite Books of 2018 (so far) list from earlier in the week were June releases. Making June my best month of the year, by far!

May is in the books! I hope it was a great reading month for all of you. As the days get nicer and nicer, I always feel like I should be reading more, but somehow that doesn’t always happen. There are so many distractions as the days grow warmer, but that’s okay. I know I thoroughly enjoy any time I get to spend outdoors reading a book. I struggled a little thinking about the quality of my reading this month, but in the end really liked eight of the ten books I read. May the good reads continue for all of us in June!

You’ve got to love April! Even if much of the month is rainy (or even snowy) and gray, sunshine still manages to prevail many days bringing with it all the promises of spring and summer. My very favorite location to read is outside on my front porch. At the beginning of the month that porch was a mess. but now it’s gorgeous. Every chance I get, I’ll be out there reading for the next five months. Yay! April turned out to be a ten book month for me with several that I’m still thinking about. I hope your reading was just as successful.

Wrapping It Up! March 2018 | More

March can be a long, long month and this year was no exception. Compared to the East Coast which was slammed with storm after storm last month, we in the West had it pretty easy. In my neck of the woods, we’ve had gray rainy days, but also glorious days full of sunshine that leave everyone longing for summer. Between staying inside and reading on those rainy days and hitting the sidewalks with earbuds in place on those sunny days, I’ve managed to have my best reading month of the year with eleven books completed, including four audiobooks. Since this March wrap up includes books I finished last week, I’m skipping my usual Monday Update in its favor.
