So sorry to have been absent for an April post. I’ve been traveling a lot and some of that spanned the end of April. Plus being on the go did not work for getting my usual reading numbers in, but it was worth it! The big trip to Greece and Turkey with my sister was amazing. I’d been to Greece before and it was wonderful, but wow, I loved Turkey. We ended the trip with three days in Istanbul and I could have easily done a couple more. Okay, enough about me. It’s time for books!

My numbers were down a bit in both April and May, but I’ve read some truly wonderful books, including one that just might be my favorite book of the year so far. Three are from authors I’ve read before and I’ve even got a memoir in here. I hope you find something to add to your own TBR list!…

You might notice that two are similar…both mythology retellings, but what can I say? They were equally wonderful! Let’s hope March books are just as good, but that’s a high bar.

For most of us the clocks moved forward over the weekend ushering in the unofficial start of spring. I think almost everyone is usually happy to bid winter adieu and this year is certainly no exception. The winter weather has been rough and then there’s everything else going on in the world. Will we ever have a calm, peaceful, healthy, normal world again? I know we all are praying for that in one way or another. In the meantime, books continue to offer a great escape and here, in my Spring Preview 2022, I have some really great books to get lost in. Most are April and May releases, but I HAD to add in one from next week. I hope you find a few to add to your own spring TBR!…

I’m always excited for a new year of books and that seems especially true this year. I read a lot of great books in 2021, but I’m ready for that fresh crop. In fact, I’ve already finished five 2022 books, including one that doesn’t release until May. (What can I say? I couldn’t resist.) I’ve found SO many new books to be excited about that I had to move my usual list of 16 preview books up to 20, and even that was a challenge. One thing that you’re not going to find on my Winter Preview 2022 is nonfiction. My success with nonfiction over the last couple of years has been disappointing, so like you, I’ll be looking toward others to help me find the gems this winter. However, if you’re on the hunt for great fiction, I hope you’ll find the perfect books to add to your 2022 stack!…

It’s almost Valentine’s Day, so let’s talk romance! I’m not a person drawn to traditional romance novels. I don’t often want to read a book whose main focus is a love story. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against love stories being elements of a books, I just don’t want them to be the main focus. My kind of love stories need to be embedded in a much richer, bigger picture. I want the romance to be only one element of deeply layered story. I like it even more when the love is delivered in a completely unexpected or unconventional way. So, today I’m sharing fourteen amazing books that feature fourteen unconventional love stories as just a portion of what makes them great books.
