Well another year is coming to and end, and like last year I’m not going to be all that sad to see this one go. It’s been a struggle for many and my family also had its share of challenges this year. On a happier note, life moved just a little bit closer to normal for many of us thanks to the vaccine, and personally, I did get to retire earlier than planned. That has been a very good thing, gifting me more time to spend with friends and family and more time to enjoy my favorite pass time, books. Here’s hoping everyone has a very happy, very healthy 2022!

In December, most of the books I read will publish in 2022 and I’ll be sharing those next year. Today, I have my last four 2021 books for you!…

October 2021 Books Reviews

Considering I read an 800+ page book this month, I’m feeling pretty good about the number of books I manage to read. I guess that’s retirement for you! I have to admit that I’m loving every single morning when I wake up and think, “Oh, I don’t have to go to work today.” I’m sure it will wear off, eventually, but for now it’s a daily gift. It’s also nice that I’ve been free to help out and spend more time with my three local grandkids. That and more reading time have been exactly what I was hoping for from retirement. Now if we could just get to the point where I felt good about doing some serious traveling, then it would be everything I wanted.

Today I’m sharing five books I read this month, all but one released in October. On Thursday, I’ll be back with the three audiobooks I listened to this month….

July 2021 Audiobook Reviews

Thanks to a couple long drives this month I was able to complete three (almost four) audiobooks. Of those, it was definitely a mixed bag. All entertained, but the one that truly stood out was a complete surprise to me!

I’ve struggled a bit finding audiobooks I really love this year, so if you’ve got any great recommendations, I’d love you to share….

October 2020 Book Reviews – Print & Audiobooks

It’s been a really crazy month with family occupying much of my time, so that writing reviews has fallen a little by the wayside. I managed to get in three full length reviews, all of books I loved. October has actually been a really top-notch reading month for me, so among the six titles I’m sharing with you today are several more that really worked (and maybe one or two that didn’t). I’ll start with two I read in print and then move on to the many audiobooks I listened to this month….

September Audiobook Reviews

The last month has been a crazy time for me. First, I was spending a lot of time trying to get ready for the start of this online school year. Then, it actually began and my days have been so much longer than when we’re actually in school. Top that off with ten days of smoky/hazardous air quality where I couldn’t get outside for a walk, and my listening time has suffered! Still, I’m happy to have three audiobooks to share with you today….

I have no idea why, but July 7, 2020 was huge publication day this year. Originally, I had a total of eight ARC’s to be released that day, which is crazy. Of those, one got moved to September, another (Bonnie by Christina Schwarz) I just couldn’t finish, and the other six I’m sharing some brief thoughts on today in this month’s edition of mini-reviews….

Much like April, I was able to read quite a few books in May, but didn’t get a lot of actual reviews done. I had a couple “special” blog posts including Beach Bag Books 2020, my summer reading guide, and Summer Preview 2020, a look at new releases for June July and August. I’ve also still been in that weird place where my level of satisfaction has been all over the place (often times within the same book). I don’t fully trust my own opinions right now, so please consider that when reading through my May mini-reviews….
