September was a bit of a weird reading month. I read/listened to quite a few books and enjoyed many of them. However, none left me with that big book hangover that we’re always hoping for. Off and on I felt like I was on the verge of a slump, but then I’d land on a really good book that pulled me through. So, today I’m sharing the books I consider to be my six favorites from September.

As you’ll see in the reviews this is a wide range of books, including a memoir, a couple debuts, favorite authors, and more. I hope you find a book or two that piques your interest!…

It’s been an interesting year for me and audiobooks. Typically, I have many audiobooks that I just love, but this year that hasn’t quite happened. Instead, I have lots of audiobooks that I really liked. It’s probably just me and my crazy life right now, making it a little harder for me to connect on audio. I’m still on the hunt for that “A” audiobook, but for today I’m sharing four audiobooks that did their job – they entertained me….

In my post last week I mentioned that I’d have audiobook reviews to share this week and I made it! Things are crazy in my life right now. In my work life, about half of the students in my school are headed into a hybrid model and the other half will be staying online for the rest of the year. That means the make up of ALL our classes are changing. Monday will be like a first day of school…in March. It’s crazy, but I’m happy to be one of the teachers who will continue teaching online. On the home front, I’m in the early stages of a remodel and am spending ridiculous lengths of time checking out things online, ordering samples, getting estimates. Needless to say, my reading/listening time has been impacted, but these three audiobooks were each so good that I flew through them. Even better, they’re ALL debuts, so there are three new authors to keep an eye out for!…

I’ll start with two I read in print and then move on to the many audiobooks I listened to this month….

With the start of school I knew my reading time would not be quite what it was in the summer, but I still manage to read eight (or maybe nine) books this month. Writing posts, however, has been difficult. Truly, school is all consuming right now, so as much as I’d like to spotlight some of these in their very own book reviews, I just can’t find the time or energy right now. I also know that your time is probably limited, too, so maybe these shorter reviews will work for all of us!…

I had a couple of long drives in there which added to my listening time, and honestly, I just plain love listening to a great book. So, today I’m sharing four audiobooks, including three backlist books and one upcoming release. Happy listening! …

The last couple months have been a weird time. A very weird time. As I write this post, most of us are starting our seventh week of social distancing and largely staying at home. The first couple of weeks my mind was bouncing around all over the place and reading was HARD. As April began, I settled in and reading came back to me as a comfort. Writing, however has remained difficult. Part of it is time, since teaching from home is so much harder than I’d ever imagined, but most of it is just mental head space. So now, at the end of April, I have six books I’ve yet to review, and am going to take care of them all in a series of very short reviews!

As I do so, I want to clear something up. I’ve had comments about books that I give a grade in the B range to as not being a book I liked. That’s far from true. A grade in the B range is a book I gave 4 stars to on Goodreads. It’s probably not a book that’s going to end up on my Best Books of the Year list, but it is still a book well worth reading. An A book has to completely blow me away and leave me with a book hangover, but a B book did its job. It entertained me and I think they’ll do the same for many others!…
