Hard to believe it’s already the end of September! Time marches on and I’m just beginning to realize I’m actually retired. The first half of the month I was on a trip, so it still felt like summer. Now that I’m home and NOT going to work, it’s a whole new ball game! During the last month or so, I’ve listened to quite a few audiobooks. Most I liked, couple I didn’t, but two rise above the others, falling into that category of “audiobooks you’ll love listening to!”

So, if you’re on the hunt for a great audiobook, read on because these are two I’d highly recommend….

“During a snowy Cleveland February, newlywed university students Muneer and Saeedah are expecting their first child, and he is harboring a secret: the word divorce is whispering in his ear. Soon, their marriage will end, and Muneer will return to Saudi Arabia, while Saeedah remains in Cleveland with their daughter, Hanadi. Consumed by a growing fear of losing her daughter, Saeedah disappears with the little girl, leaving Muneer to desperately search for his daughter for years. The repercussions of the abduction ripple outward, not only changing the lives of Hanadi and her parents, but also their interwoven family and friends―those who must choose sides and hide their own deeply guarded secrets…”…

The last couple months have been a weird time. A very weird time. As I write this post, most of us are starting our seventh week of social distancing and largely staying at home. The first couple of weeks my mind was bouncing around all over the place and reading was HARD. As April began, I settled in and reading came back to me as a comfort. Writing, however has remained difficult. Part of it is time, since teaching from home is so much harder than I’d ever imagined, but most of it is just mental head space. So now, at the end of April, I have six books I’ve yet to review, and am going to take care of them all in a series of very short reviews!

As I do so, I want to clear something up. I’ve had comments about books that I give a grade in the B range to as not being a book I liked. That’s far from true. A grade in the B range is a book I gave 4 stars to on Goodreads. It’s probably not a book that’s going to end up on my Best Books of the Year list, but it is still a book well worth reading. An A book has to completely blow me away and leave me with a book hangover, but a B book did its job. It entertained me and I think they’ll do the same for many others!…

It’s that time of the month again when my book review shelves need to be cleared. My reading pace this whole summer has been fast for me at about 11 books per month. That’s sure to slow WAY down as I’m back at work this week and won’t be spending lazy days on my front porch reading for hours any longer. (So sad!) Today I’ll be sharing three that I just haven’t managed to clear off my shelves yet, but first, I want to remind you of my favorite August books:…
