I don’t know about you, but I feel like 2022 has been an excellent year for books so far. It started out with a bang and some great winter releases, then into spring where April might have been one of the strongest months for new releases in YEARS! Now as spring is winding down, Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and we’re headed into summer books it’s looking like that good 2022 book juju just might continue. June alone looks insane with incredible sounding books, and July and August aren’t bad either. No matter what you might be doing this summer, you’ll want to keep this Summer Preview 2022 handy, so you can put in library requests, Libby holds, or maybe even splurge on a few new books to read on vacation. I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for summer and vacation season! I don’t even care that much what I’ll be doing. Like the rest of you, I’m just looking forward to that move toward a more normal life. Isn’t it finally starting to feel like we can relax a little? Wherever I am and whatever else I might be doing, I know that books will be a huge part of my summer, and this summer there are SO MANY great books to choose from. Let me tell you, it was no easy task narrowing my Summer Preview 2021, to these 20 books. I really hope you find many to add to your own summer reading list….

Beach Bag Books 2021

Where to begin? We’ve all been living a dystopian novel for the last 15 months, but things are finally starting to head toward something closer to normal. Like many of you, I’m now fully vaccinated and isn’t that a relief? I’m out and about more, have seen friends, and even got to go visit my mom last weekend. Hopefully, this summer will bring you more vacations than last, but whether you’re summer involves travel or just time to breathe, great beach bag books are always a MUST!

This year I’m sharing 21 books that I hope will make for fabulous summer reading. Books are broken down into four categories, including three that highlight 2021 books: Smart Suspense, Loving Literary, and Delightfully Different. The final category, Backlist Beauties is mainly made up of books from 2020 which I read after last year’s Beach Bag Books.

I’ll be talking about many of these books and some that you don’t see here on the May 12th episode of Sarah’s Bookshelves Live. Between Sarah and myself, your summer TBR list is going to explode!…

July Mini-Reviews ~ A Half Dozen!

I have no idea why, but July 7, 2020 was huge publication day this year. Originally, I had a total of eight ARC’s to be released that day, which is crazy. Of those, one got moved to September, another (Bonnie by Christina Schwarz) I just couldn’t finish, and the other six I’m sharing some brief thoughts on today in this month’s edition of mini-reviews….

The summer of 2020 is going to be a very different summer, for sure. It’s already the end of May and I have no idea what I’ll be doing when school gets out in a couple weeks. What I don’t want to do is stay home the entire time! Eventually I suppose I’ll figure something out, but the one thing I know I can count on is plenty of summer reading. Whether I’m at home or away books are always my constant companions and that’s even more true in the summer when time is on my side. For many of us spring reading has been tough, really tough. Maybe it was the books, but more likely it was us and the season of quarantine and coronavirus. Hopefully, all of us will have much better luck with the books in this year’s Summer Preview!…

Beach Bag Books 2020 | More

There’s no denying it. This is an insane year! With many of us still under stay-at-home orders and many more still social distancing, lots of vacations just won’t happen this year. We’d all love to head to a dreamy beach destination, but that might have to be a little sand and your kids’ blow up pool! No matter what your summer might look like, I hope summer books and reading will be a part of your plan.

I’ve managed to round up 20 books that could make for some great summer reading. The first 15 are all from 2020 and include three categories: Mystery & Thrillers, Loving Literary, and Delightfully Different. The final 5 are all recent Backlist Beauties that I hadn’t yet read when putting together last year’s Beach Bag Books.

Last week was my final week of reading freedom this summer. I’m not back to work for a couple more weeks, and I have a lot of fun packed into the next two weeks, but very little empty time for just me and books. This next week I’ll be traveling to visit some of my very favorite people, and then back home to a long overdue visit from one of my oldest and dearest friends. I hope to get some reading done, but for the next couple weeks I think books will be on the back burner!
